96 DB SPL 2.83V/1 Meter!

The AlixAnne
The Alix-Anne: 96dB SPL 2.83V/1 Meter Pure first order configured for: bi or tri wiring; single ended triode amplifiers or the most powerful solid state amplifiers available; ideal operation in or on the wall pressure zone; 37" High, 14 1/4" Wide, 3 3/4" Deep, 60 Lbs.

Technical Specifications

Note: The AlixAnne is configured for either on wall mounting using the attached high carbon steel hanger, or for in between 2x4 or 2x6 in wall mounting. An in wall mounting bracket kit is available, (IWKit-I) which makes possible a dry wall cut in for existing construction, in which the cut in dry wall hole is no larger than the AlixAnne, so that a decorator fascia frame, also available, or easily custom manufactured, completely covers and finishes the cut in dry wall hole.

Sensitivity: 96 dB SPL 2.83V/1 Meter, on axis, or well off axis, from nearly two square feet of driven diaphragm surface: High Quality and High Quantity Output, rather than a high sensitivity number for a low driven surface area, such as in the case of a single six and one half, or eight inch low/midrange driver and small cone or dome tweeter, which typically have less than 40 square inches of driven diaphragm surface.

Enclosure Type: Low internal and cross sectional area, high friction vented transmission line, tuned to 28 Hz.

Crossover Type: Three way, first order time and therefore phase coherent, six decibel per octave crossover. See Input Pin/Bolt Assignments page for all bi-wire, tri-wire and external electronic crossover, extended bass mode options for the AlixAnne Transducer System.

Horizontal Dispersion, Array Type: Tweeter, Mid/Low, Symmetrical Vertical line source arrays, for eighty degrees on either side of a vertically bisecting axis: The vertical dispersion of the AlixAnne is a full 100 degrees, a full 50 degrees on either side of a horizontally bisecting axis.

Frequency Response: The low frequency in room limit can be somewhat raised or lowered by side wall or corner proximity to the AlixAnne. Overall center wall in room frequency response of the AlixAnne is 28Hz to 22Khz, ± 2 decibels.

Enclosure: Side, bottom, top, panels, selected non-endangered renewable hardwoods. Front and back panels, 18 millimeter, 9 ply premium Baltic birch. The AlixAnne enclosure is damped with over twelve pounds of silicones, elastomeric acrylics and elastomeric adhesives. As much acoustical energy appears in the supposedly stationary parts of a transducer as appears in the moving, sound radiating parts of the transducer system. Damping of all solid surfaces is critical, a vibrating solid can only communicate with the sound transmitting air medium to colour the sound through the surface of the vibrating solid.

Input Pin/Bolt Assignments

Pins/Bolts 1 and 6 input to the tweeter/midrange array through the cascaded internal crossover of the AlixAnne

Pins/Bolts 2 and 5 input to the Low/Midrange array directly or from an amplifier driven by an external electronic crossover.

Pins/Bolts 3 and 4 input to the Low/Midrange array directly or from an amplifier driven by an external electronic crossover.

Either pins/bolts 2 and 5 or 3 and 4 may be driven in an extended bass mode from an amplifier driven in a special low pass mode from the American Power & Light, Inc Electronic Crossover

The Alix-Anne retails for$ 4,500 to $6,000 US depending upon finish. For ordering information call 1(209)245-4689 or e-mail info@americanpowerlight.com
