As much acoustical energy appears in the supposedly stationary parts of a transducer as appears in the moving, sound radiating parts of the transducer system. Damping of all solid surfaces is critical, a vibrating solid can only communicate with the sound transmitting air medium to colour the sound through the surface of the vibrating solid.
